Accelerate Education's NCAA High School Code is 481143. While Accelerate has submitted many of our high school online courses for NCAA approval, at this time our account status remains 'In Review'.
When the NCAA approves an online course, it is not approving the curriculum per se, but rather is approving the manner in which that curriculum is being delivered to student athletes. The NCAA approval process essentially takes for granted that a core course, by definition, meets applicable curricular requirements. The NCAA course review focuses on the instructional practices and school policies under which a given course is delivered. For that reason, any school electing to offer Accelerate Education courses with district teachers will need to independently seek NCAA approval of those courses, if desired.
Not all high school classes are eligible to be considered NCAA core courses. Only courses in English, math (Algebra 1 or higher), natural or physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy may be approved as NCAA core courses. Remedial classes and classes completed through credit-by-exam are not considered NCAA core courses and will not be approved for NCAA eligibility.
Schools interested in submitting courses for NCAA approval can find more information about the process on the NCAA Eligibility Center High School Portal: https://web3.ncaa.org/hsportal/exec/homeAction.
